Google is not just an ordinary search engine like most people see it. It offers many other services apart from the search engine itself.

If you are into online marketing then you will want to know more about Google. There are many free google marketing tools that you might want to know and use.

But first you will need to open a Google account before accessing any of the tools mentioned here. If you are not using Google as your main email account I would say you are really missing out on all the benefits.

By the time you finish reading this article you will know how to use Google services.

All of these tools will help you if you are a blogger, doing affiliate marketing or content marketing.

8 free google marketing tools

Google Keyword Planner:

I had to start with this tool because you can use it right from the beginning when you create content for your blog.

The Google Keyword Planner is a tool that can help you do keyword research. With the Google Keyword Planner you can filter the best keywords for your blog post.

Instead of using short tail keywords try to find long tail keywords and see what other related keywords can you find. For example if you are in the weight loss niche and trying to find the keywords for the “best weight loss supplements”.

Try to be more specific so that you can find the long tail keywords that will help you get search traffic from search engines.

You can analyse your keywords for every blog post you write. So instead of wasting time on keywords that won’t drive traffic to your site you can plan ahead. Use the Google Keyword Planner tool to generate ideas for your articles.

Google Trends:

Google Trends is one of the most used free google marketing tools you can find. If you often find it hard to come up with article ideas for your blog then this tool helps you solve that problem. The Google Keyword Planner tool helps you find the best keywords while the Google Trends help you find what’s trending.

Use this tool to find out what’s currently trending on the internet and you could gain traffic by targeting trending content.

You can just enter the term you are looking for and see which others related to them are trending. The great thing about this tool is that you can view the trends by region.

It can also help you find the new niche markets for a new blog or affiliate marketing strategies. You can select a topic based on what’s popular at the current moment and get traffic immediately.

Google Analytics:

As a blogger or an affiliate marketer you should have a marketing strategy in place. In your strategy you should have an analysis tool to help you see the metrics of your site. Google Analytics is that tool, it helps you analyse all the metrics of your site.

You are able to see where your traffic comes from and trace all the countries, devices, browsers and more.

If you assume that’s not enough, well to give you more, you actually see the user behavior, how much time they spend on your site, average page views, bounce rate and so on.

It also makes it easy for you to see which sites bring traffic including social media channels. You can link your website/blog to your Google Analytics account easily.

In fact if you are using WordPress as your CMS and blogging platform you should install the Google Analytics plugin. The plugin enables you to access your site’s performance on your dashboard.

Google Search Console:

Google makes sure you get the maximum results and with the Search Console tool they incorporated many tools. Some of the best tools you can find here is the PageSpeed Insights tool which helps you view and increase the performance of your website speed.

There are also many other tools like the Structured Data Testing tool, Google My Business etc. But before you start using the Google Search Console tool you should have a Google account and link your site to it.

Google Chrome:

There are only a few web browsers to choose from but if you are not using Google Chrome then you might be missing out.  My number one browser is Google Chrome while the second best browser for me is Firefox. I would not recommend any other browser because you wont get the same experience as this one.

Google Plus:

Please note: Google Plus has been shutdown by Google in 2018, it has been one of the free google marketing tools for several years.

Here’s what it used to do:

Google came up with this social network which helps you connect with your friends and influencers around the world. Is not as popular among many social network lovers but it helps build followers and get traffic to your website or blog.

You can find global groups within your niche and start participating and sharing your content.

A Google+ page enables you to build a reputation for your business when you receive a +1(similar to a Like on Facebook) from your followers. You can also include Google+ in your social media strategy to build your social media presence and followers.

Google Alerts:

This is one of the tools that can help you generate content ideas. You can also use it to find leads for comments and get backlinks to your blog.

All you have to do is to set up Google Alerts of the keywords you want then you will receive the articles related to those keywords on your email. This can help you trace all your competitors keywords and capitalize on that.

I receive hundreds of  alerts every week because of the numerous keywords I’m targeting. This helps me learn from other experts, all I have to do is select the content I want and work on it.

I suggest that you create a separate email address for this since your email will be filled with lots of articles from across the internet.

Google Suite:

Last on the list is the Google Suite which offers all in one tools. This includes Google Drive, Docs, SpreadSheets, Slides, Calendar and more. It enables you to save your content in a secure manner and also cooperate with others.

Instead of using the paid versions of Microsoft Office you can use the Google Suite to store content, arrange the way you want, and schedule it according to your needs.

Final thoughts

You can save a lot of money by using these free google marketing tools yet still improve your content marketing strategy. Most of these tools are more important and give more value than other paid tools. You get all of them for free without paying a penny.
